ford naa jubilee electrical issues

Hi, I'm Rob, new to tractors and such, but proud owner of an aaa jubilee.
Had no power to coil, traced wire back to voltage regulator and found it frayed. Cut out the frayed part, spliced in a piece of #12 wire and it started right up.
Backed up tractor, ready to mow, put it in neutral, engaged PTO while holding in clutch, and as soon as I released the clutch tractor dies.
Hasn't started since.
Bad voltage regulator? More frayed wires?

Welcome to the forum Rob!
Your voltage regulator actually has nothing to do with the ignition
circuit working, so that was probably a fluke from wiggling the
wires around. Or at least, that would be my guess at this point.
If the wires are that bad, I'd replace them all. I don't like tractor
fires or unreliable tractors due to intermittent wiring.
They're pretty easily and cheaply rewired.

Fellow forum member JMOR has some really nice, easy to follow
wiring pictograms for these old Ford tractors. Do a search for
"wiring diagrams by JMOR" and they should be the first link or so.
If you have any trouble finding them let me know and I'll find you one.
