I have a steering cylinder from a 60's ford probably a 4400 or 4500 that is mounted in the front bolster..does anyone
know which port is the pressure port and which is the return ? ...and how much pressure the pump delivers.. thanks...

the cap on the end is there ..has a pin hole in the end...looking at the diagram it shows its supposed to have a felt pad behind the cap and then a washer cylinder retainer with a hole too...what I can't figure out is why its there unless its for air to go in and out or for any leakage that gets past the end of the spool last o-ring...?

Yes 4400,4500,5000 do share some steering componets. I have 2 4500s both cyls have eye that screws end of rod, ports are on top. They mount length wise with rod anchored at rite front of support. The 5000 mounts crosswise in front of crank pulley with lines going in side with drilled rod anchored on support side.

UltraDog do you know what the purpose of the cap on the end of the spool ?It has a small hole in it and behind that there is a felt pad and then a washer retainer with a hole in it ..this sets up against the end of the spool..and if seapage would come out of it does that mean the last O-Ring on the spool is leaking..or what?..thanks...Marlin
