(quoted from post at 22:11:34 05/26/19) Yes, you can run your exhaust vertical through the hood but I don't see a hole in yours. Did you fill the hole in when you did your body work? I assume a horizontal exhaust will not work for your application.
You did a very nice job restoring your 4000.
On a side note, my grandfather was from Stolac and my girlfriend's family is from Opatija. Unfortunately I do not speak Croatian, something I regret to this day. [/img]
(quoted from post at 23:18:36 05/26/19) Howdy Dirk,
Welcome to the Ford board.
How is Mr. Cussler doing these days?
If you see him tell him I enjoyed
several of his novels.
Beautiful job on the tractor!
Some random thoughts:
I see the new style tach drive on what
appears to be an old style block.
Is a threaded adaptor available over
there? I have not seen those here but
would like to find one like that.
I saw you had a couple of bolts missing
on the axle housing then see you have
some kind of a hitch that bolts there.
What is the purpose of that hitch?
It seems quite high.
Where was your tractor built?
Probably in Antwerp?
The front grill guard is very nice.
Was this something you could buy or was
it custom built.
The vented hood for a diesel with no
exhaust hole on top is very hard to
find. I looked for a couple of years to
find one like that for my 3000.
Saw several that someone had hacked a
hole in the top for the exhaust.
Glad you didn't hack a hole in yours!
Great job on the tractor.
Oh, and I see you sleeved the engine.
You are smart to do that.
(quoted from post at 16:08:21 05/30/19) ... but your x000 is/should be the same part number exhaust manifold......just get a new gasket and flip it vertical.
(quoted from post at 13:25:06 06/10/19) It is almost like a whistle. From a distance when it is working at loads it sounds almost like a whistle...
