Just lost most of the gear in a 1982 or 2 Ford 6610 with the 8 spd with 4 reverse tranny. Gears 4 and 8 still hold. Simple fix or does the tractor need to be split into 3rds?
(quoted from post at 16:35:37 05/27/19) So it was the shifter?
They are quite clunky, need to go through mine and replace bushings.
(quoted from post at 20:51:18 05/27/19) Turns out that part # 38785 (snap ring) kept coming off from what it seems. Part 7

In case someone looking for the part, the NH parts website doesn't appear to work any more

Thanks. The snap ring was part of the issue, but the biggest issue was the tractor needed a synchro for the low gears. When we pulled out the old synchros, the low side on one side had the teeth worn down and sliding it back and forth, just slid. The new one fixed the problem. We did both. There was two plastic washers we couldn't get so we made up the room inside the transmission.
Thirds, not half and gut the transmission. I don't know if you could get thoses synchros anymore new.(quoted from post at 01:10:15 03/26/23)(quoted from post at 13:08:16 03/26/23)(quoted from post at 00:50:23 03/26/23)(quoted from post at 20:51:18 05/27/19) Turns out that part # 38785 (snap ring) kept coming off from what it seems. Is this a full split job?
