With the key switch in the "on" posistion and engine not running, both warning lights should be on (charge and oil). With the engine running, both should go out. If the charge light stays on, try polarizing your generator. If that doesn't cure it, remove generator, melt it down for a boat anchor, and install an internally regulated Delco alternator (kits to do this available from TISCO). Believe me when I say that you will save yourself much time and frustration. One last note - the above information assumes you have everything wired up correctly.
