5 speed double clutch interference

I had a new bottom plate that has the pins installed to start with, new discs, and new top pressure plate. Now that the clutch is together it won't quite bottom to the flywheel when I start to tighten the bolts. If I tighten two bolts on one side there is a gap on the other side, not more than 1/16". Does this pic in the manual explain my problem?

The plate closest to the engine is not supposed to contact the flywheel when it's bolted up. This is because said plate needs to move forward (towards the engine) to disengage.

I found the problem. The top plate bolts were just a little too long and were going through the flat surface that bolts to the flywheel. Thanks, Bern.
