Ford 2000 diesel; 3 cyl.; 8/2 trans.....Yesterday was moving some implements to different location so I could mow where they had been sitting. Moved the harrow then hooked up the landscape rake after turning off the tractor. Got back in the seat and tried to crank the tractor and got a loud whining/clicking sound which sounded like it was coming from the fuel pump. I had pulled the throttle out to stop the engine and forgot to push it back in before trying to crank the tractor. I quickly pushed the throttle back in but the noise continued but was falling off in volume. I cranked the tractor and the engine started and I heard no further weird noises.
Would the noise have been from the pump as I assumed and what would have caused the noise? I'm hoping to hear from the forum that the noise has happened to others and that no damage was done.
