I am looking at an 801 for $1300. It is a
select o speed, gas. The only number I can
find on the bell housing is 7013 and there
is no other numbers stamped. I found
several casting numbers but was curious of
the exact model etc. Any help would be
appreciated.

utility model 801s with select-o-speed are either 871 or 881. 881 has two levers on the left side of the transmission made of heavy sheet steel that the 871 does not have.

Welcome to the forum Andrew.

Sorry! The only thing I can tell by your picture is that the transmission it has is the latest and best pre 1965 SOS transmission available.

That transmission was an upgrade offered by Ford in the mid 60s for about $600.00. The dealer was supposed to re-stamp the model and serial number when the new transmission was installed. Some did. some didn't. If they did, it should be hand stamped into the flat spot on the bell housing right behind the starter and under the air cleaner. You may have to scrape dirt and or paint. It's obvious the transmission was repainted to match the tractor as it would have been painted blue from the factory.

If it has two levers on the left side, one in front of the foot rest, and one near your left heel, it is an 881. If not, it is an 871 or a model sans PTO and/or 3 point. All would have been models within the 801 series produced from January 1959 through December 1962.

Thanks for the help. I believe it would be an 871 because i do not believe there are any levers. It does have a pro and 3 point. It's also been converted to 12 volt. It was running when parked 2 years ago so I have a little work ahead of me but it would make a great addition to the tree farm!I attached another picture for reference.

Mostly likely a 871 as one can see the 3pt hitch. But someone could have added it after it left the factory, if that the case it could be a 811. 811s didn't have a 3pt hitch or a pto.
