My 860 has a 5 speed trans. I tried to replace the clutch pedal shaft. I thought it was threaded into the case of the transmission, wrong ! Come to find out it,after hearing it fall, it has a nut on the inside the transmission . Does anyone know if there is a way of getting at that nut , other than pulling the top off of the trans ?
The shaft (nda7506b) and the bushing (nda7526a) are impossible to get new. Going to fix old one (worn out) .

While I'm not sure what it takes to get you back up and running, I would think the top cover has to come off the transmission.

BTW, all 860s are 5 speeds . . . unless their original configuration has changed.

you are in for more than you think, unfortunately -

here's a picture inside the transmission of the nut on the clutch pedal shaft - at the left -

doesn't look too bad, except in that picture the main shaft has been removed - here's what's in front of the nut -

I'd judge there's no getting to that nut without the removal of the mainshaft - which requires splitting of the tractor and splitting the transmission from the differential -

sorry - I honestly hope someone here tells me it is possible and they've done it, but I don't see how -

Good news for Diggerdon. I pulled the shift lever off and the top plate off the transmission. Guess what, I can look down at the the hole
where the nut goes . Fished the nut out and all I need to do now is, fix the clutch shaft , and put it back. I don't think their was a lock
washer, at least I can't find one . Thanks for the pictures .

The fix for the shaft is fairly crude. It is running welding beads on the worn part and then grinding the shaft round again . That makes the
bushing fit tight. Its about all you can do, because they don't sell new ones, and most used ones are worn out.

I have taken several pictures of the clutch pedal shaft but none next to a tape measure. Here is what I have and the shaft fix has turned out good .

In pomester's first photo it appears to be a Stover locknut, no lock washer. It looks like it may have a thin flat washer behind it, it might just be where the nut turned against the case.
