Ford 4000 Hydraulic Fluid Refill

Very new to tractors in general and I realize this may be a simple question. I just had all the seals in one of cylinders to my loader replaced and some of the hydraulic fluid bled out when I removed the cylinder. I
simply want to check the level of the fluid and top it off. My issue is that what I think is the plug to fill it is in a very tight spot. Is there a trick to this or a special tool that's necessary? I appreciate your help! Also, I
did purchase a manual and was wondering if hydraulic fluid and hydraulic oil is the same thing when I go to top this off. Sorry for my "newbie-ness" to all of this.

OK . . . so I can see by the picture, it's a late (3 cylinder) 4000. Always best, though, to state which 4000 you have. There are 2 different 4000 Ford tractors.

While I'm not at all familiar with the 3 cyl. models, I would not think what you've identified is the fill plug. Your operator's manual should help you with this.

Hydraulic oil and hydraulic fluid likely mean the same. However, there are many different variants. Find one that specifically says it "meets or exceeds" the M2C-134-D spec and you'll be good to go.

Thanks for all that Larry. I believe that if I'm reading the manual correctly that this is the plug to check the level. And then I'd fill from somewhere else that I haven't identified yet :) . Do you think I need to check the level? Can I just pour some in the fill hole wherever it is?

oil fill is on the top you fill until it runs out the hole you found. someone will post a pic soon I would think

Yes, that is the level check plug. Fill hole is the large hex head plug on top of the differential housing on the right side. If you are having problems getting to the plug to remove it, loosen or remove the nuts holding the foot rest in place.

I can't tell from your pictures as to what loader is mounted on it, but a lot of the loaders had a separate pump mounted on the front of the tractor with a separate reservoir inside the loader frame. Are you sure your loader uses the 3 point hydraulic pump and reservoir?
