I'm working on a 92 model 256 engine that has the 1/2" capscrew rod bolts instead of the older 7/16 bolt and nut style.
My manuals don't show or give a torque spec for the newer style rods.
Local dealer couldn't help, only thing we could find was the newer 268 engine on a 5640 that called for 110 lbs torque for the rod bolts and 160 lbs for the head bolts.
This seam awful high for this engine and want to make sure before messing something up

According to my info, a 1992 model 256 is a 40 series engine. I don't have a 40 series manual available to
me, but I do have a 70 series Genesis manual, and according to the parts book, they use the same con rod
bolt. The 70 series Genesis manual shows it at 110 ft-lbs also, which is very reasonable for a 1/2" bolt.
Torque it to 110 and don't look back.

Also, 160 ft-lbs for 9/16" head bolts is correct as well.

Ok thanks. Didn't want the over torque and mess up.
According to parts search my 89 6610's 268 engine also has the cap screw rod bolts, don't understand why my manuals don't show them.
Working on a 92 5030.
