5000D making oil

My 74 5000 D is making oil (not power steering fluid). I was wondering if it could be getting fuel through the injector pump (Cav). Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks,

Most likely the injection pump drive hub seal is bad, as that tractor used no supply pump on later CAV DPA pump equipped engines. Have a Perkins DPA on the test stand now that came in for the same trouble.

Being I get in lots of tractors of that era,, most common is the front seal on the power steering pump is bad. And the power steering level slowly lowers...

While I have probably replaced 27 to 40 power steering pumps due to this problem, I have only had a John Deere come in with bad injector seals.

If it is getting diesel in the oil, it will thin the oil quickly and oil pressure will drop to half of normal when running, or even worse. So you should get that repaired soon, very soon.

If its the power steering, lots of folks just start running diesel oil in the steering pump till they get around to fixing it,, while keeping an eye on the crankcase level from getting too full. And this seems to work as a band aid as most of these tractors use about the same amount of oil as that comes in, so its a longer term bandaid.

Power steering pumps are too easy to change out to do this for long though.

If its the injector pump, do it now so you dont wash out the main bearings from bad lubrication boundary.
