Ford 420 PTO?

I am contemplating buying what I believe is a Ford 420 Industrial. The tractor is aways away and the owner does not know a lot of information about it. The tractor has a FEL, model 712 I believe. Right now it has a weight box on the rear. He says that it has a 3 point hitch, with a cover where he believes the PTO is. The sticker under the hood reads:

Model: KD221K
Tractor Number: C528391
Unit: 7B02B
Engine: 6M06B
Transmission OJ29B
Rear Axel 6L09B
HYD. Pump: ***
Hyd Lift: *** (these are actual stars stamped into the tag).

I'm trying to find out if it actually has a useable rear PTO.

If anyone is able to help I would really appreciate it! Thanks!

My 420 has a flat plate bolted where the PTO would be if it had one. it doesn't if that tractor had one I would think it would have a round cone sticking out covering the shaft

If my memory is correct "K" is 4x4 power reversing trans. There is no pto and can never be one. With weight box wonder if has hyds on tractor and since lift/pump x'd out. Will have crank driven pump for loader.

I believe this machine was built for KD Forklift without a PTO or 3Pt lift. That being said, it's not a forklift now and maybe it never was a forklift and Ford or a third party added the top cover and PTO. Is it a gas tractor. Has the owner mentioned it has more than one reverse gear.

Working backwards, I believe the last K signifies a 6x4 transmission. The 1 means it has no PTO and the last 2 means it's a gas tractor. The KD in the beginning of the model number means it was built for KD forklift. I don't know what to make of the first 2 in the 221 yet. The fact that the Hyd Pump and Hyd Lift have *** says to me they were deleted when built. The weight box on the rear says to me "no 3pt", but then a quick look see will tell you yes or no.

I believe the above because I own a KD forklift and my number is not that far from yours, ending in F, for power reversing transmission. Mine is built on a 3550, but the 420 is the successor to the 3550 and if memory serves, KD built machines on the 420 when the 3550-s dried up.

An "F" at the end of the model number signifies Torque Converter Power Reversing Transmission. "K" stands for 6x4 Manual Reversing Transmission.

Model: KD221K - This is a 420 with a gasoline engine, no PTO and a 6x4 manual reversing transmission

Tractor Number: C528391 - This is a 1977 serial number

Unit: 7B02B - This is the code for the production date of the tractor, which is February 2, 1977 during th eday shift.

The rest are assembly date codes forh the various components:

Engine: 6M06B - December 6, 1966 day shift

Transmission OJ29B - This doesn't look correct. That first character should be a 6 or a 7 to indicate the transmission was assembled in 1966 or 1967. A zero would indicate either 1970 or 1980, and 1980 would mean that the transmisssion was assembled 3 years after the tractor was built, which is not possible, so if it was 1970, then that transmission sat in the factory for 7 years after it was assembled before it was installed into a tractor.

Rear Axel 6L09B - November 9, 1976 day shift

The asterisks on those last two mean that it came from the factory without any 3 point hydraulics, whch is not uncommon for an industrial model like the 420.

Thank you everyone. That is what I was afraid of. He told me it had a PTO, but I was hesitant. Guess I won't be taking the ride and the search continues!
