Im trying to find out what is the original factory diameter of the rod journal for a 3 cyl. 192/201 motor for an early 65 to 68 motor. and did the 68 and up size stay the same or is it different ?..I had my crank turned down ten thousands and ordered 10 thousands Clevite bearings and its too tight ..even at only 20 lbs torque.

Original diameter was 2.750, yours should be 2.740. If in fact your crank measures 2.740, and the bearings are stamped ".010 U/S", then I'm going to say that you put the rod cap on backwards. Make sure the bearing tangs and stamped numbers on the rod and cap are on the same side.

Next time have the machine shop order them for you. They do it every day, and then it is their responsibility to get it right.

Thanks for the info...and advice....I had the machine shop clean up the mains and rods and weld up the thrust surface and got home checked everything with plastic gauge...everything was good..all 3 rod journals were at .0003...so I started putting everything back together and quit in the middle and then got side tracked and a week later came back and some how in a rush ended up with the # 3 cap and # 2 cap swapped....my error...thanks..
