4600 du oily exhost

I just got a 1978 4600 du diesel and today we were doing some dirt work and at the end I noticed the exhaust pipe was wet. This was the most time I have run it since purchasing it.looks like it is running rich. no black smoke when it revs sounds ok when running , no diesel smell to the oil. the injector pump looks clean like it was recently rebuilt. Any thoughts as to where to start?

Sounds like light load "wet stacking", make sure the thermostat works, then load it to get the engine up to temp. If it stops then all is well. Lots of diesels will do that during light load use as diesel exhaust temp is much lower at about 250 degrees. Under full load both gas and diesels can run up to 1200-1300 degrees exhaust temp.
