I just got a Ford 621 tractor and a new cap and rotor. this ford looks to have a pertronix in it and its 12v. the odd thing is the existing cap and the new one match. the distributor has no provision for the notch in the caps like most do. any ideas? did they not have them or is this a aftermarket?

the seller is shipping me the service manual he has however is there any decent place to buy a download or do i just have to wait?

Edit i got a man. but have another question the tractor is a 621-62
then there is a diamond followed by A1708. then the serial on the next line170681

so this is a 1962 621 but what does the a1708 mean?
this tractor is yellow with 3pt no pto and a davis 101a loader

he original had a dust cover, then cap & I think the cap indexed to dust cover which indexed to distributor.

I remember someone saying that with some Pertronix EI kits for those prior 4 cylinder tractors that you had to cut out the center of the dust cover to allow it to clear the EI module.

...maybe the rotating magnet piece?

Maybe that was it. Someone was complaining that they couldn't get the dust cover back on after installing the Prertronix EI kit and someone else said that you have to make the hole in the center of the dust cover larger. That's about all that my feeble old memory can bring up at this point.

I ordered the cover it will be here tomorrow. I kinda wondered if I will need to modify it. It has been a few years since ive had the pleasure of dealing with points and conversions lol.
Next is the leaking fuel shutoff i guess i will take the tank out and flush it and rebuild the shutoff and install a new filter and fuel lines
