I had a 600 series tractor with an engine noise somewhat like a wrist pin or something like that. Quiet at idle but audible at higher rpm. I sold it to a
friend and informed him of the noise. He thought governor and replaced it. No change. He put new piston, rings, and wrist pins. He said crank and rod
brgs fine. Good oil pressure. No change. He talked to a long time ford mechanic and was told timing gears worn. Does this sound right? If so, this does
not sound like a terrible job. Am I correct?
