Ford 2000 tractor seat bolt/stud problem

Hello,
I ran into a problem when trying to install a new seat. I was hoping this was going to be a quick improvement for the tractor but when undoing the seat the rear stud broke. It appears to be a specialized bolt with a stud on top and then threads then a rod. the rod part is what snapped. It is a 3 cylinder tractor and i cannot find what the part is in my shop manual. can someone please help identify the part and let me know if i need to dig into hydro cover to fix it.

thanks

Well, what makes you say that it has broken. The parts page shows just a stud, no threaded rod. The upper part should be a fine thread then a short smooth portion with no threads, then a coarse thread. overall length somewhere in the neighbor hood of an inch and a half with approx 7/8 in the hole and 5/8 above.

The front one is just a stud, but that rear seat "stud" actually serves two purposes. One is for the rear mount point for the seat. The other is to anchor the draft spring plunger. That is why it has two different threads and a pin at the bottom. Below is a link to the parts page. It is labeled #11 in the drawing and is part number C5NN669C. The name of the part is "Plunger Guide". It looks like it is no longer available from CNH, so you'll need to find it at a salvage yard. Make sure that you relieve the tension on the draft spring plunger when you install it, as it won't go in properly if there is tension on the plunger and it binds.

thank you for the diagriam and information. I will look at it closely tonight and take a picture of it to post. Hopefully its not broken at all.

what happens if this pin isn't there? I recently took my hydraulics apart for cleaning and adjustment and that back seat mount was just a bolt. I thought it was a little odd that the hole went all the way through. I've only had the tractor a few years and don't use it very much so I'm wondering if I've just been lucky so far.

I believe.. it will be wacky in draft mode,

and could even affect the position mode, if there is enough pressure on the top link.... Maybe others will chime in.

Now that I think about it, there was a '66 2000 that was missing one and everytime there was pressure on the top link from the shredder(brush hog) going over a gofer mound, it would pick up the shredder and hold it up, even though it was in position mode. Replacing the missing stud fixed it.

That part appears to me to be available from CNH. My dealer is Roehr's Machinery in Beatrice, NE. Of course, I haven't called to verify, but they show it for $43.xx.

Does their web site actually say that they have it in stock? They are probably like Messick's in that most things not in stock show as available in 3-5 or 3-7 business days, but a lot of those are actually no longer available, but you can't find that out until you call them. partspring.com, when their availability lookup is working, tells you if it is no longer available. Unfortunately their availability lookup has not been working for the past few days.
