Dean 5 speed keyway fix

On my other post you mentioned to get a good used shifter rod, I have one. Do you know if the shifter rod can be removed independently by itself?

I've not overhauled a 5 speed transmission, RR, so am not certain, but I do not believe that it can be. Perhaps Bern knows.

Don't you have the transmission out already for replacement of a thrust washer or something?

I had a problem with 3-r but it was just a broken detent spring. I don't need to pull it now. The manual just gives breakdown instructions. I'm pulling the input for seal replacement. I have another one split that needs a 311266 thrust washer. The parts manual is a little fuzzy on that washer as it shows it for the single input and the double input. I know that the single has those 3 washers on the tranny input just like the double does. There's really no place for it on the single input as it already has those 3 washers but the double pto shaft that i took out of the other tractor didn't have a bronze washer between the pto input gear and that big steel washer that HoboNC said that he belled with a press to give it more width.
