Ford 841-D Hydraulic lift not working

So, I posted last week on a tractor that I just purchased. With the help
of a couple folks on here. I got it started and it runs great. My problem
now is the hydraulic lift. Doesn?t. I checked the fluid level is full in the
dip stick but it looks like honey. Real thick. Is that normal after sitting
for 4 years? Should I drain and start fresh? How can I trouble shoot
the pump? Any and all help is appreciated.

Thanks
Bob

You can click on Modern view and type in the search bar 801 hydraulic lift problems. When the page resets click on search again and it will pull up old related posts by other members. The thick oil might mean you have oil coming in from the rearend or transmission seals. You can check that by draining the middle drain plug. Depending on how cold it is it might take a while to transfer from either one. Someone could have put thick oil in it or it might just be cold oil. You can check for pump prime by loosening the pipe plug at the pump while it's running. When the bubbles stop coming out then it's primed. If it wont lift after priming its most likely a stuck unloading valve.
