Winter Wonderland

Still moving snow here on the edge of prairie. Hydraulics were mighty sluggish at first. -6F when I took this picture yesterday. The temps are finally starting to warm up some and we should be above freezing by early next week - thank goodness. But more snow on the way.

Great old tractor Colin.
I don't see much snow in our forecast in the near future here.
Looks like temps are going to moderate too - at last.
This has been a tough winter.
Another 60 days and we'll be plowing though.
Spring will come.
It always does...

Spring is definitely on the way. Days are getting longer and even on these really cold days, seems the snow is melting just a little bit. I'm hearing we could get another 8" of snow, though, up here starting Saturday!

In our part of Wis we have had 55 inches of snow in Feb. a new record. Im tired of plowing snow let alone dirt.

Nice looking tractor, here is an older pic of mine. I see you have the pie weight mounting plate. My tires are loaded and I run the pie weights as well.

You should always mention what you paid
for those pie weights - and the front
weight box.
Just to give your fellow 9XXers here
palpitations.

What do you have on the right hand side of the tractor?

When I purchased the 961, it came with a partial set of weights. I ended up finding a complete set about 25 miles away. If I remember correctly, the fellow wanted $150 for them. I have yet to put them on. I also have CaCl filled tubes.

Colin,

That is a left over mount for the original front bucket (name escapes me now, but was a very common front bucket on the old Fords). I have chose to leave it as it is a nice guard when mowing thicker brush. Plus, while not a good idea, it isn't a bad spot for my lovely wife to ride along briefly when she chooses.

Hey Jerry,

Well, I would say I paid pretty much full price for the pie weights, $400 I believe. But we did find the front weight box and all but one box weight half buried in the barn and he threw them in for free! I think I paid forddoc $100 or so for the final weight to make the set complete.

That said, I believe my family and I will be moving to town and I will likely choose to part with the front weights. I plan on leaving the tractor at my parents so I can still blade their drive etc. while they remain on the hill, but honestly, I don't expect that to last much longer either. Time marches on.

Having gotten them for a bargain, I plan on working out a good price with somebody here if they are interested. Due to proximity and my time spent here, I was going to give Dave Hobbs, Larry or yourself first dibs if interested (I know they don't fit on the "blue" Fords that you prefer).

If I could find the time down the road, I would love to truck the whole thing down to Chris and watch him clean her up. I don't think you've tackled one lately have you Chris (soundGuy)?
