installing crankshaft hyd. pump on my ford naa

the instructions says to remove the crank ratchet and plain washer from crankshaft, which I did except there was no washer. Insert 5/8" slotted-head capscrew, internal lock washer and plain washer. This is a used system and I am lacking parts. My question is what is a internal lock washer and I believe the slotted head capscrew is like any other slotted capscrew

Internal tooth lockwasher.

Original bolt was HH, 5/8"-18 x 1-1/4".

IIRC, you can use a hex head bolt, but may have to machine or grind the head thinner.

I'll also state the obvious. Those washers are one-use, so buy two or three just in case you have to take things back apart for any reason.

"The guy that came up with that slotted head screw should be shot..."

Agreed. Use a hex head cap screw.
As an aside, if you are changing the shaft or drive, do both at the same time.

Right after the guy that came up with the larger triangle pills my wife has to take for her swallowing problem!!! What a dumb f@@@. His wife should have to take them. See how long it is before she shoots him!
