900 PA rims

A 5/8 bolt,1-3/4 inches long. 18 threads per inch. $56.38 from you friendly NH dealer. I doubt you will get a fin threaded carriage bolt, ANYWHERE

Guy at church works for a big bolt supplier in town. Says he can get any bolts , cheaper than anyone else. We will see. Thanks for the info.

I used to get some real oddball stuff from these folks -

They're not really carriage bolts, though they are similar.

They are fine thread and hard. Not sure how they are graded but they must be TIGHT to properly clamp the rims.

I bought several from CNH a few years ago and they were expensive. The nuts and hard washers are also expensive.

Neither Steiners nor CNH have them.

Do you have a pattern to go by? Mac or I might come up with an old bolt to use for something to go by. Let me know if we need to look. I hope to see you next Tuesday night at 6:00.

The young man at church wants me to bring him one of my correct ones. Ain't got but 4 that are right. Hate for him to not understand how important that one bolt is! Maybe I can bring one on Tuesday. Thanks

Originals were not simply carriage bolts. The had a deeper square shoulder that was designed to be swedged into the wheel so that they would not fall out.

Any one have 4 bolts, nuts, washers laying around? Maybe off a tractor with rims welded in place? One side of mine is good. Other side had a mix of bolts.I bought 4 new ones from Fastenal. They are course thread and don't seem to get tight enough.

Sorry.

Post should say neither Steiners nor Dennis Carpenter have them. CNH does but they are sole-sourced and expensive.

Best place to find them is at a tractor salvage yard.

Be advised that those having CaCl damage will probably strip out when attempting to tighten to necessary torque.
