How to remove the fuel shutoff solenoid on Ford 1920 injecti

Hi

Does anyone know how to remove the solenoid on the side of the fuel injection pump on my ford 1920 tractor?

The shop manual says this solenoid has to be removed before taking out the injection pump which needs replacing.

Thanks

I used channel locks and unscrewed it ccw to a point where it didn’t come out any more , it just turned , but neither did it come out when I tugged on it. Is it hooked on something or are the O rings holding it in. Should I just pull harder after it’s fully unscrewed ccw? Trying not to break anything.

Thx

I must be doing something wrong , it turns and turns but doesn’t mine away from the block. I’ll try to upload a picture.

OK I got my problem figured out:

The outside case is slipping on the body of the unit and while the outside jacket is turning the threaded inside is not moving and un-screwing. Got to put the big channel locks on it and squeeze it near the engine block where it screws in .

Im not sure but I think the issue with pictures not uploading is that they are too big , more than 300KB is not allowed . Nope , the pictures didn't load , just the.

This site doesn't let new members post pictures until they have 10 or 12 posts under there belt. I think this is to avoid spammers & trolls. Here's your pictures:

Redz, is it possible that the inj. pump problem is connected to your "bad" solenoid??
Take the solenoid OUT & loosen the steel lines at the injectors or pump & crank the engine & see if your getting fuel thru the pump..
Good luck..

Had to beat on the outside edge of the solenoid with a long screwdriver and hammer to break it free and get it to turn ccw . Then it unscrewed and and came out, injection pump then came out. The pump has some issue and has to be replaced, black crankcase oil is getting into the pump and into the red fuel system.
