The other day I posted this thread:
https://www.yesterdaystractors.com/cgi-bin/viewit.cgi?bd=ford&th=662561
about my slow hyds when cold. Someone replied about it being a 641.

How does a person tell if the tractor is a 600, 641, 621, etc? I'm confused.

Also, put 10W hyd oil in tractor today. Still really slow. Put knipco on bottom of tractor for 10 minutes before 3 pt went up. Ugggh.

600 and 601 were series of Ford tractors. The individual models within those series varied depending on the middle digit. 641 was a model in the 601 series that had a 4 speed transmission and factory 3 point lift hydraulics and transmission driven (non-live) PTO.

The 4 speed models never had live PTO as an option, and the shifter is different from the 5 speed shifter, so most folks can determine from pictures that it has a 4 speedor a 5 speed. From your pictures in that thread, it actually looks like a 600 series tractor, so if it has a 4 speed transmission it is more likely a 640 than a 641. You can use the information at the link below to determine exactly what model your tractor is:

The model and serial numbers are faintly stamped on top0 of the flat spot on the bell housing under the air cleaner and behind the starter. e.g. 640 100000
