4600 SU tachometer drive

Hi Guys, I got a new to me 4600 Diesel that the tachometer wasn't working. I replaced the instrument cluster and the
tachometer worked for 15 minutes and then stopped. I found the tachometer drive assembly that goes into the crankcase
has a cable in it that is broken. How difficult is this to replace? How does it work? I was expecting a gear drive to a
female fitting for the tachometer cable. My shop manual doesn't have anything on this. Thanks

Here's a link to the parts diagram for that model tractor on Messick's web site.

Scroll down and click on "Instrument Panel" on the left side, and then once the sub-menu below that opens up click on "(12A01) - INSTRUMENT CLUSTER ASSEMBLY & RELATED PARTS - EXCEPT 5700, 6700, 7700"

That drawing includes the proofmeter drive (tach drive), parts labelled 21-28. It looks like they have a couple of the entire drive assemblies (part 21) in stock for $150.94 a piece. If you just need the little cable, part 24, they have a couple of those as well for $12.46.
