I got a 1968 Ford 4000 3cyl gas tractor. My dad bought it in the early 80s and it's what I grew up learning to drive on. It's got the select-o-speed transmission on it, and one of the nice things about it is that it "locks" the rear wheels whenever the engine turns off. Although handy in certain situations, it is also inconvenient when the engine dies and you need to move it. Had a little situation over the weekend when my points went out and I was in the middle of spreading gravel in a restaurant parking lot. Had to hook 2 trucks to it to drag it out of the way of traffic. Is there any way to bypass the brakes to get it to move? I'm assuming it's a hydraulic pressure thing and when it runs it pushes the brake apart so when it dies it locks. Is there a way to bypass them to get it to move easier?
Thanks for the help.
