Ford 172 gas front seal replacement

I need to replace the front main seal in my 841 and I can't tell
wether it goes in from the out side or I have to take the cover
off the governor etc.Any advice would be appreciated.

You have to take the cover off, it's a real pain when everything's in the way. I always replace them with the earlier style two piece covers. you can find them on fleabay from time to time or maybe someone here has one.
