1969 Ford 3000

I was gave a 1969 Ford 3000 Industrial tractor with a loader by my 93 year old uncle. The only bad thing is the shift cable for the select o shift is broke and I have been searching for one with no luck. Has anybody had one made and it worked?

The tractor is a 3500 - yes, an industrial
based on a 3000 chassis. I can't help on
the sos cable.
I seriously doubt you'll be able to jerry
rig another cable to work.
I would watch ebay or run an ad in the
free classifieds here on this site - if
Catalina can't fix you up with one.
Those are great old tractors.

He also has another 3000 in great shape with low hours that was used by the highway department with sprayers hooked up to it. It don't have a pto so using anything that needs a spinning shaft can't be used. I am going to try and get it so I can put the heavy duty front end and loader from this one on it. This way I could have a good tractor with a loader.

Here is the other 3000 tractor. model CA261F special build for the highway dept. He didn't hear them at the auction when they said no PTO. That don't matter to me since I have others to use. It does have a three point lift. It would be perfect with the loader and heavy duty front end swapped out and it's a 1968

That second one is a 3600, not a 3000. The CA2 at the beginning of the model number says that it is a 3600, and the grill in that picture is the later 3600 style grill as well, so somebody probably added the 3000 decals on the hood when it was repainted at some point.

CA261F would be a 3600 ag chassis tractor with a horizontal exhaust gasoline engine, no PTO and a 4x4 torque converter auto reversing transmission, which is exactly what it looks like in those pictures. Transmission only has a single stick, and the only single stick made at that time was the 4x4 auto reverser, and I see the carb indicating it is a gasser and I see the horizontal exhaust as well.

There's a lot to be swapped out if you're going to move the whole front end and loader over, don't forget to move the cast iron oil pan on the 3500 to that 3600 as well, as the cast pan is structural with the front bolster of the 3500.

If the rest of the 3500 is good, I would consider moving the transmission from the 3600 to the 3500. Depends on which engine is in better shape really if you're trying to make one good tractor out of two.

The tractor that has the loader had the sos cable broke when he got it and they put another cable back on and it broke. The shifter housing is missing and somebody before he got it rigged a shifter on it. The man helping my uncle took the dist. out for some reson and it can't be found. I know the 3600 runs good and I don't mind swapping out all that needs to be moved and thanks about the oil pan. I know the trailing arms need to be swapped along with power steering cylinders and very much more. I have more time than money to buy one already with a loader.
