Ford 841 misterious lever

I recently bought a ford 841 that has a lever down near my
right foot it comes out of the side of the transmission .It seems
to have 3 positions reverse neutral and forward.Just curious
what it is.Thanks

No it come right out of the original transmission housing.I don't know how to post pictures on here.

its in the right spot for a Hupp, I think someone just made a replacement handle out of a piece of steel strap for it
 
If it's a hupp dual drive this will be the shift pattern. If it does not pull out in the neutral detente then it's probably an overdrive. This would have been the handle for the overdrive. As already stated yours is homemade.

Did a little more digging and re-read your original post were you said it has forward AND reverse- in that case it can be either a Sherman OR Hupp reverser transmission. Hupps always exited out the right side of the case, but Shermans can be on EITHER side. Most Shermans will have the handle on the left side, but they can be found on the right occasionally too.
If you arent too busy after supper tonight, split the tractor apart to see which one you have and let us know!
