Power steering pump 951

Looking at a 951 for possible next project. Are there any operational differences between the horizontal hollow sleeve type pump (like this one has) and the rotor type Eaton pump or a roller vane pump? I know the sleeve pump is the earliest version, just not sure why it would of been upgraded by Ford. Can I swap it out with the later roller vane type pump like was on my 961 if I had to?
I believe the only difference between my 961 and this 951 is that the 951 is not live PTO. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Just trying to get some info before I go check it out. Thanks.

The earlier pump won't work on a diesel, you can swap them out though. Someone might be looking for an original sleeve type and swap you.

The early sleeve style pump appears to be more complicated with many more parts than the later style eaton pump. I'm sure it was a cost saving measure for the switch.

I know of no reasons why you cannot swap the earlier style PS pump for the later style if you have all of the correct brackets and lines.

I know of no differences between a 951 and 961 aside from live PTO.
