Ford 4000 transmission questions/ pto

Does anyone know if the 3 cylinder 4000 could have come with live pto? I’ve been looking at 8 speed transmission with live pto. I was told that the clutch is 2 stage but the pto lever is in a different spot, like on a 3000 with live pto.

The picture is of a 3000 rear end with live pto, that’s what the one I’m looking at looks like. I guess it was a state tractor that I’m looking at.

After relooking at the photos, would it be possible to swap the rear axles from a 4500 rear end and then attach them to the rear end of this one

That's not a 4500 rear end in your
picture... it has drum brakes. Likely a
3400. 4000's and 4500's would both have a
double reduction rear end with wet disk
brakes.

I was wondering it you could swap the axles from the 4500 to that

Being a state tractor it's most likely a 4110 which is a 3000 chassis with the larger 4000 engine.
4500 axles will not work on a 3000 center section.

Thanks I just wasn’t sure about that part swap, guess I got to keep looking.

If it has live PTO instead of independent PTO, then it would have the 2000/3000 style piston hydraulic pump on the left side of the engine back near the flywheel. If it has the gear pump in the right side of the center housing then it should have independent PTO.

I think the first picture that I posted (rear end and transmission) has live pto (I see why you can’t swap the housings and axle parts to that rear end or the whole rear end onto the 3000 style 8 speed. From what it seems I also wouldn’t be able to swap the pto etc from the 3000 style rear end into the 4500 rear end). The second picture is of my 4500 rear end, which I’m guessing that there is enough parts in it to make the rear wheels move and the dif lock. I would like to make the 4500 into a ag tractor (pto and 3 pt) and have the backhoe and loader on (I’m guessing that the backhoe and load frame would fit). At least that’s the plan.
