Yep, mines broken there too. About half that I?ve
seen have repair jobs done to them. Big piece of
half inch plate to cover the crack and I was back in
business. Been holding for along time.
 
Looks like the 740 loader frame on my 4500. One side is even bulged out as though ice formed in there at one time.
 
As long as the bucket sets flat and there isn't a twist in the loader it should work fine,I would grind some of the paint down to bare metal and finish welding
all the way around for strength,but that's just me.
 

The trick is to clip off the corners on all of the patch plates similiar to the factory plates you see on equipment. It seems to make a difference in a keeping it from cracking through the patches. They also should extend well past the crack.

If you dont take the time to do it properly you will be doing it again. I’ll take a picture tomorrorow of our last repair on the 580B which has held up to some abuse.
 

This arm broke 3 times.

First at the lower repair where the cross member is.
Just gouged the crack and welded it up, then placed angle iron and square plate steel.

Held up for a year, then broke in same location. Cracks went right through the patches.

Then we did some research and shaped our plates differently. We also went to a heavier piece of angle iron.
Repair has lasted.

Then it broke where the cylinder linkage mounts. Similiar repair. Both are holding up well to serious abuse.

Last picture is the other arm starting to break in the same place.

Younger brother did the best he could with the welder we had available. Probably should have used a stick welder. In one picture you can see a tab welded on. We lowered the bucket to close the gap, then used allthread to bolt it together tight before welding.
