Pwr. St. Fluid for Ford 340A

Hi,

I broke a hose on the power steering line for my 340A. The hand book says to use M2C105-A or M2C94-A fluid to refill the reservoir but Tractor Supply isn't too clear on what this coverts to in today's lubricants and I don't think any off-the-shelf auto ps fluid is going to be compatible. Can anyone out there help on this?

Thanks.

Use any fluid that says on the label that it meets or exceed the Ford/New Holland M2C134D specification. You should use that same fluid in the transmission and rear axle as well.

I finally dug up someone locally that said the same thing. I've been putting Tractor Supply's Universal Trans/Hydraulic Fluid in the rear axle as I had a lot of leaking
hoses on the backhoe until I replaced them all last year. It didn't specifically say that it was compatible with the M2C105A but it did mention the 134D specification.
Hope there's no conflict with what's left in the lines as it's been in there since the factory many moons ago.

BTW, if you have a 340A how far from the top do you fill the rear axle? All the manual will give is a specific quantity to put in and if there was ever a dip stick on
the axle it's long gone.

Thanks for your answer.

Someone will probably post a picture but there is a small square headed pipe plug just behind where your right heel would be on the footrest. That's the fill level. Don't take out the slotted head bolt or anything else.

Ok, it's on the end of a tube at a 45 degree angle in the casting of the transmission body? Mine is under so much dirt and oil I can hardly tell what it is. Are you supposed to have it open when filling until oil comes out of it?

If it has a factory cab then it should have a dipstick on the left side. If it does not have a cab then you use the level check hole as described by GreenAcre.
