(quoted from post at 23:11:35 01/28/19) Thanks a lot for that info are all the 545 tractors starting with a BB serial number

No, serial numbers changed over the years and were used sequentially for all tractor models made. When the sequence reached BB99999 the next one was BC00001, and so on.

The first 3 characters of the model number tells which model it is. The original 545 replaced the earlier 535, which in turn replaced the 4500, and the 545 was replaced by the 545A which in turn was replaced by the 545C.

First 3 characters of the model number:
D50 - 4500 (1965-19750
DD1 - 535 (1975-1976)
DD2 - 535 (1976-1978)
DD3 - 545 (1978-1983)
DD4 - 545A (1984-1988)
DD5 - 545C(1988-1992)

Serial number ranges overlapped the years, so a 4500 serial number could start with an A, B or C, as those letters designated which factory they were built at. By the time that they started using the double letter serial numbers all starting with B (BA, BB, BC, etc.) in 1986, they had moved all tractor assembly to the Basildon UK plant. So the 535 and 545 serial numbers would have also started with A, B or C. The 545A could have started with A, B, C, BA or BB. The 545C serial numbers would have started with BB, BC, or BD.
