Moving the Engine by Hand - 860

Turning the fan will work, but you need to push down on the belt slack side too. A socket on the generator/alternator and pushing down on the belt works even better.
 
I've never found one that could not be turned (with care) by turning the fan.

Yes, you will need to use two hands, one to pull on a blade, and the other to hold compressive tension onto the belt.

NOT sure what are are doing, but if the tractor is on a level hard surface you can remove the sparkplugs, then shift it into the highest gear and rock a rear wheel 'til you get it to roll a bit.

Having a hefty friend helps!

Of course, with the sparkplugs removed it will turn easier with the fan, as well.
 
long screwdriver between two of the four bolts on pulley. place screwdrive on top of one bolt and under the bolt above and push down.
