Ok, I got my new power steering pump. I have to remove the fittings from the old pump and was wondering what would be the best sealant to use? Also, I assume that 134D would work in the new pump.Any input would be appreciated.

134 is the recommended fluid. ORB and JIC style fittings do not use any type of sealant. Tapered pipe thread connections do need to be sealed.

My '73 4000 power steering pump has flare fittings on the lines at the pump. No sealant needed. A 5000 should be the same, at least with the later style pump with the reservoir integrated into the pump housing. I'm not sure what type of fittings the earlier style pumps with the separate reservoir used, but I would assume that they would be the same at the pump end. The parts drawing shows o-rings at the ends of the lines at the cylinder but it doesn't show any details for the ends at the pump.
