replacing gasket on transmission bearing 860 Ford

I have a 1955 Ford 860 Live PTO five speed. I am replacing bad input transmission seal. I broke gasket on the bearing retainer on which seal retainer bolts to. I cannot remove bearing retainer to replace gasket behind it.
I have some ideas. Has anyone had to do this and how did you do it?

You gotta quit bouncing around br. click on classic view. I dont think it will come out with the input shaft in place. I believe it has to be lifted above the big gear on the bottom. Hylomar is a good sealant if you can get it out.

Thank you. It has been a while since I have posted. I had difficulty. I cannot get it over the gear. I have some clearance to clean up between bearing holder and housing. I was going to use brake cleaner on rag and use black RTV gasket maker. Thank you for mentioning Hylomer. I was hoping to get it out so I could easily put on gasket maker. I was hoping there was something I could not see.
Thank you again.

Manual just gives total breakdown. I forgot what I did, but I did have the bottom shaft front retainer out for some reason. I think you could get a new gasket from CNH and work it over from the outside because of the cutouts on the retainer. Is the gasket still stuck but just has a break in it? If so you could just clean it and use silicone or hylomar around that area. Hylomar semi-dries pretty fast but remains pliable (test it), silicone gets all over everything in tight places but might be easier to get in there with the long snout. You have the earlier 5 speed that has a different input shaft than the models made 58-64. Your problem might be why they changed the design in 58. Those thin gaskets always seem to stick to both surfaces, a putty scraper works good for that but you dont have a lot of working room. I've cut them with the scraper even with plenty of room. I surely wouldnt tear into the tranny for a gasket on the outside.
