Ford 2000 3 cylinder(1975?)

New to me Ford 2000 3 cylinder. I think it's a 1975 model. I need to change the fluids in the transmission and rear end. Would someone tell me what fluids I should use and an approximate quantity? thanks, gregjo1948

Anything that meets the 134 spec. unless it has the SOS. I use TSC's Universal Trans-Hydraulic. Used to have 90 wt. in the transmission but it was very hard to shift in cold weather.

Ford 2000; 3 cyl. gas and 3 cyl. diesel....I use Tractor Supply Universal fluid in my tractor for everything but the engine. Engine oil is Shell Rotella 15w40 T4 oil.

I use the 15/40 in my diesels but, I've never run it in a gas engine. I run 10/30 or 30 in my old gassers. gregjo1948

Per the owners manual, ford recommended m-2c53a oil for the hydraulic system and standard transmission, but with the sos, recommended the m-2c41a.

m-2c134 was recommended for the 3610 or "10" series tractor which had much higher pressures and in some cases, required transmission/power steering coolers... starting in 1982.

The Ford numbers don't mean squat to me. I'd have to go online and research what the numbers and letters are all about or see if there is a conversion chart to determine what they are in SAE. gregjo1948

I have a 75 2000. Put tsc travelier in my transmission and when I work it hard, it becomes difficult to shift gears. Going to put better transmission fluid in next time.

As far as I am aware, both of those older specs, M2C53A and M2C41A, have been superseded over the years, and the manufacturer no longer recommended them and instead recommended newer specs over time, and that the current recommended spec in that long line of supersedings is M2C134D for both of them.

Also, there are not many, if any, fluids for sale on the market today that state on their labels that they meet or exceed either of those two older specs. Some might list them on their product spec sheets, but I haven't seen them on any container labels in my shopping around. And any that I have seen that list them on their spec sheet also say that they meet or exceed the M2C134D spec as well. If you can find a fluid that says that it meets one of those older specs and does not say that it meets the 134D spec, and it is less expensive, then by all means use that, but I don't think that there are any.
