Holley carb

I have a 3 cylinder Ford 2000 with a Holley carb. Trying to get the correct rebuild kit for the carb has left me confused. I've found many kits for the 3 cylinder 2000 and claims that they will work on some other models. Prices range from $20.00 to $80.00, for what appear to be the same kit. There are pictures showing what comes in the kit and it looks like what I have. The problem I have is that the carb numbers that the kit is for don't include mine. Are the carbs the same and the numbers differ from year to year? I think my tractor is a 1975 and the numbers on the carb are C9NN9510A. Do I need to match that number exactly or can I just go by what is listed for a Ford 2000 with a 3 cylinder engine? thanks, gregjo1948

There are multiple versions of the Holley Ford tractor carburetor. Different carburetors use different metering plate and float bowl gaskets. Your carburetor will not function properly if you use incorrect gaskets, even if they appear to fit. Much of the poor reputation of the Holley carburetor derives from rebuilding with incorrect carburetor kits. Unfortunately, I know of no single kit suitable for use with all carburetors.

The only way that I know to be certain that you have the right kit is to take both tractor and carburetor numbers to your CNH dealer and order one. It will be expensive so you should disassemble your carburetor first to verify that it is rebuildable.

If you go the CNH route, try to get an experienced parts person. There are those out there that do not care.

Thanks Dean,
For the most part, I use machine and part numbers to get parts. I do about 95% of my part buying on line so, I try very hard to get them right the first try. I don't like waiting for them too much and I hate paying shipping so, I don't want to have to send the wrong parts back. Do you think I need to match my carb number and the "List" number or can I use either one? Thanks again, gregjo1948

The parts site claims that there are only two different Holley Carb Repair kits for the 2000 depending on the year:

CKPN9590A - 2000, 3000 & 4000 prior to 10/1/1966

CKPN9590B - 2000 & 3000 10/1/1966 & up

No telling if the carb is from some different application. Go by carb number. I’d go to a good auto parts store that actually has the old Holley books...not the computer BS

Agreed.

Not everything can be positively ordered online.

This one of the situations where I go to my CNH dealer.

Your carb should be marked C9NN A, the 9510 was a given and not stamped (if an OEM installed carb). According to my cheat sheet the C9NN A carb was 1968 only. There should also be the Holley list number RXXX (or in the case of your C9NN A carb R4119). Go by the Holley number rather than the Ford number. If you are going to use after market repair kits there are basically only two variants. One for those carbs where the bowl gasket and power valve gasket are separate, and the other where they are one piece. There are many vendors SELLING kits, but the components are all coming from the same place in a large far eastern country. The fit of the power valve in the bore is critical, and you may have fit problems if the bore has corroded away &/or swollen. Unless it is in SUPURB shape internally throw it away and buy a new Zenith (NOT after market copy thereof).

I have used the 10/1/1966 & up it has fit the ones I have done... I have even made my own gaskets its not that hard as long as you have a decent old one to use as a pattern...

Even the ones in the kit needed a little trimming for a correct fit....

You will see all I have had to say about'em...

They are a EZ carb to repair once you understand how they work... The things I have had to over come as Dean stated is ell fitting gaskets... No problem I have several pair of scissors...

You guys have a lot of info and I appreciate it but, I'm a little confused.
Numbers on my carb C9NN9510A
LIST 4119 1
12R-3589B
1000
4GC

Can you tell me what rebuild kit I need and where can I get it?

I forgot to add that, I can't determine if the bowl gasket and the accelerator pump gasket/gaskets are 1 piece or 2 separate pieces. When pulling it apart, the gasket stay attached in places and came off in other places, making it impossible for me to figure one or two pieces.

I finally got a rebuild kit for this Ford 2000/Holley carb. Got it at local NAPA and it was in stock on the shelf. Thank you all for your help. I have a new problem. My torn apart carb and all it's pieces got scrambled and now I'm not sure about reassembly. Everything is fine except the float assembly. I don't find a little wire clip that connects the needle to the pin. I do have a tiny spring, that is what I call a toque spring. It fits nicely into the float area where the wire clip usually goes. The pin that holds the float to the carb fits perfectly thru this spring. Does this carb not have the usual wire clip that slips onto the needle and over the pin. Does it actually use the tiny spring there instead. If you're laughing at me right now, you will be old some day too!!!!! Thank you all, gregjo1948

I found the answer to my dilemma on YOU TUBE. The tiny spring does go where the float connects to the carb with the pin going thru it. I think the spring keeps the float from bouncing when the fuel slops around. There is no wire clip that connects the needle to the float. gregjo1948
