Removing valve seats in pump

Is there something else I can use to remove the valve seats in a hydraulic pump without spending $65 on the tool? I hate to spend that and probably only use it once. The smallest bearing puller I can find is 8mm. I think the seats are 6MM.

I rebuilt the pump on my 2000. I put a tap, 14-28 I think, that was just slightly larger than the ID of the seat and cut just a couple of partial threads. Just enough to start a screw in. Then washers and a nut to make a puller. Once they move just a little they come right out.

May have been a 5/16 NF, it was five or six years ago. Be careful with assembling. the three legs of the ball cages must fit into the little counterbores of the plate. If not they will collapse and keep the balls from seating. I had to straighten them with pliers. The replacements cages were in a kit from this site and not the greatest quality, softer steel and they needed a little adjustment to fit.
