Ford 3000 hydraulic question

This is just a dump question. Since I'm waiting for parts for the hydraulic pump, can I just cut a piece of metal, drill 4 holes and put the plate on over where you would attach the pump and plug the lines going to the pump? I know that the remote or the 3 pt won't work.

Yes. They made a cover plate for tractors sold without the engine mounted pump. There was a gasket made to go under the plate, but you could cut one out of a cereal box.

For years, I made gaskets out of Pall Mall cartons. Since I stopped smoking, I've found that cereal boxes do indeed make great gaskets. A ball pein hammer, some cereal boxes & a tube of #2 permatex is the standard Ford fixit kit.

When I was a young kid, we always made our go-carts, & mini-bike head & carb gaskets for the wards, or sears catalog covers.

Now days, they will tell you that it won't work. Ya right!

I had just made a intake/exhaust gasket from a box top & bottom with a piece of duct tin. so that it had a heat shield in between. Works great. I wasn't going to pay $54.00 for a Case intake gasket.

Well if you can find a Wards or Sears catalog it will probably work, but finding those catalogs these days is the problem.
