Good morning:
As a young boy our Neighbour owned and operated an English FORD 2000 Diesel ..Perkins Engine:
There is an English Ford 2000 to be Auctioned at an upcoming Farm Sale:

All and any info would be great on this model of Tractor.
I'm Interested in any negative issues when these Tractors were original produced.

Any similarity and or parts compatible with the English MF FE 35 X ?

It is amazing how similar this tractor is to the design specs of a MF 35. The Dexta was built first. Other than no power steering on Dexta tractor, it will do everything a MF 35 does. Engine is Fordson built, but similar in design to the Perkin AD3-152. Dextas were 3-144 and 3-152. Shares some engine parts.
Parts are available on line, just google dexta parts. Or check eBay. FNH Dealer also can get most parts. Tires and rims from Fords of same era work.
Maintenance problems. None for a fairly good mechanic. The rear axle bearings must be shimmed for proper fit. Most aren't and loose bearing result in seal leaks (most time onto brake shoes). Perkins Diesel do not do well with ether. Ether baby Dexta tractors are hard to start, due to often-time cracked rings.
Most Dextas run good, need paint, tach or cable and electrical stuff. But basically bullet proof tractors.

Thanks to all for your insight:
I shall attend the sale, in the Spring, as well as operate this Tractor before sale day:

Thanks:

Bob..

The Fordson Super Dexta was built in Dagenham, England from 1962 to 1964. Exports to the USA, were re-badged as a Ford 2000 Diesel. The Fordson name was dropped in favor of the Ford brand. The Super Dexta was an update of the highly successful Dexta to complement the Fordson Major and compete with the Massey Ferguson 35.

Saying that a New Holland dealer can get most Fordson parts is the funniest thing I?ve read here in months.

As others have said.. other than no power steering, one of the best tractors ever made. Bullet proof, hard worker, very nimble in that it drives like a small tractor but has the umpth of a larger tractor. I have had several and worked them hard. IIRC live pto and live hydraulics, but its been a few years...

Only problem is that parts are hard in the US, but more plentiful in the UK. If it checks out, I would not hesitate to own another as I never needed parts the whole time I had em.. other than fuel, battery, oil and filters... Only complaint is they have way more hp than weight so filling the rear tires is a must.

We had the older Dexta model, same tractor but with smaller ci engine.

Bad was the steering, rebuilt the sector but was still hard the steer at slow speeds, also near impossible to start in cold weather.
12 volt positive ground charging system was pricy to repair

I see that one has been converted to negative ground with a Delco alternator and has a coolant heater mounted on the side, both are good things.

Good was it ran forever and is still going for my neighbor, cheapest operating tractor I ever ran, would pull 2 bottom 14" plows in sod ground for over 10 hours on it's 8 gallon tank of fuel.

The Super Dexta/ 2000 are pretty good except for the steering which is a Pita as I have never seen a new steering shaft. There is a worm in the upper part of the column that is replaceable, this will not help a worn lower anvil on the bottom of the shaft. They did this possibly to make the rocker shafts equal length along with the steering arms. Some kind of recirculating ball would have been better. A sliding anvil with a worm involves more friction. The worm is why the steering wheel hub is thicker than usual.

The engine is a Ferkins--- Block cast by Ford and the internals installed by Perkins. It uses most of the internal engine parts as the indirect A3.152 Massey engine. Same head, pistons, rods, crank, camshaft. Different injection pump drive. The main difference is the Massey uses a rotary injection pump while the Dexta uses a Simms inline injection pump. Yours probably has a minimec P4588 injection pump.

The transmission shares some of the gears as ford tractors of the time. The two stage clutch should be the same as some other fords.

The Dexta is three plow rated do to the 39-45 hp engine and 6 gears.
