Ford 3000 lift cover

I removed my lift cover to try to figure out what was causing my three point to go up but not come back down and found the case Had lots of crud and too broken pieces in bottom. I have figured out where this spring goes but there is a round piece that looks like it has broken off the end of a shaft of some sort but I cannot identify where it came from. While I'm in here I'm going to replace the intake and exhaust filters however I cannot find in my manual how to get the Intake filter and tube assembly out looks like I may have to remove PTO shaft and coupler? Any suggestions on what to use to remove the crud in the bottom as well will be helpful. Does anyone know if the Lyft cover repair kit from this site includes oh rings for the small cover that goes on top of the lift cover for the frontend loader controls

I'm gonna guess that the plug came from the back of the transmission, behind a shift rail, such as part #32 in the image
linked below.

Suction screen should come out after you remove the PTO shaft and shifter. I've used diesel fuel to flush the case, but good
old fashioned hand work with a rag will get most of it.

Thanks for the tip on the filter but I don't think this is the shifter rail cap This is thick cast it looks like it broke off of a shaft not like the plug you mentioned

I like Shaun's guess better now that I look at that plug a little differently, along with your description of "thick cast". If
it is from the ring gear, you should be able to tell for sure after you pull the PTO shaft out the back. There's probably a
few more just like it in the back.

(quoted from post at 21:14:14 12/09/18) Possible head off rivet that holds ring gear on diff? Usually don't migrate to the front.
thanks finding a few pictures I think you may be right I will pull the pto this week as I get time. If it is the ring gear rivet is there enough room in the carrier to replace them with bolts?
