PTO side cover

I have read through my service manual and can't find any info about removing the PTO side cover.

I'm working on a '63 4000 diesel, with a SOS.

I need to replace the cover gasket, what do I need to watch out for when I remove it.

Is it not just a arm/lever that engages in a grove, or a step on the shaft, that moves something to connect the drive to the rear diff. Just a straight forward deal. I don't want to drop something, or mess anything up removing the cover.

Or am I totally wrong.

Thanks, Pat

While I have the cover off, is there anything I should check out inside.

My good to needs repair ratio on this tractor isn't very good. So I'll most likely find something that need fixing in there!

Thanks, Pat

Only 2 things.

1. You may need to drain some hydraulic oil.

2. When going back together, make sure you get the TDC eccentric back in the groove on the coupler.

Thanks, I'm draining all fluids as I go. I'm cleaning inside as much as I can, and installing new oil when, I'm done pulling everything apart. When ever I get to that point!

Thanks, Pat
