Trying to get my 5 Speed Proof Meter running. Near as I can tell they were run off the generator originally. My 861 has an alternator and electronic ignition and I?m not sure how it gets hooked up. I have the Shop Manual but can?t find it in there. Can someone point me in the right direction? Thank you!

Too early to be driven by generator. Cable goes to back of hydraulic pump on right side rear of engine.

The PROOFMETER is not an electrical device, it is mechanical and so it doesn't matter if tractor is wired 6V/POS GRN or 12V/NEG GRN or EI added. Do you have the I&T F-21 Manual?

As already indicated, the PM is driven by the hydraulic pump.
I just bought a new cable off of ebay for my 960. same cable. hooks up to the hyd pump to the proofmeter. when you get a new cable plug the end into the hyd pump. turn the other end and see if it turns. it should not turn. then plug the small end in the proofmeter and turn the other end and your proof meter should go up. that will tell you both drive ends are okay and apparently the old cable had just broke. good luck
