Want to change the power steering filter and before I do I want to know what fluid to use. The IT manual just gives a spec Ford M-2C41-A.

That specification has been superseded a couple of times over the years and I believe the current recommendation is to use a UTF that says on the label that it meets or exceeds the Ford/New Holland M2C134D specification.

Almost any automatic transmission fluid, power steering fluid or tractor rated hydraulic fluid will meet or surpass that spec m2c41 AND...... will work fine. There are NO wet brakes or wet clutches to worry about, so even fluids with high anti wear additives and friction modifiers will work well. But fluids with just anti foaming, o-ring conditioner, and anti oxidation are all that is required for this system.

agree with the others. Just about any hyd oil, multi use tractor oil ( UTF UTD, etc ) even ATF and most automotive generic PS
oils will be just fine.

My 3910 manual says use the same fluid you use in your drive train. PS systems are all probably alike within this range of Fords. Like others said,
probably no biggie what you use. On my Mercury OB it said open the fill port on the PTT. It the fluid is red add ATF. If clear ad PS fluid.
