800 Variation update

Owner claimed that someone told him it was a
rare tractor...only five or six made. Well
it turned out to be a Frankenstein and it
very well may be one of a kind. I think it's
has a 172 gas motor, 850 trans, 820 rear,
arps backhoe, unknown loader. But the best
part is the Elenco front end. It's at my
mechanics shop to get the gas tank replaced
and carb adjusted or rebuilt. It did start
enough to get loader and backhoe buckets in
the air.

I think I'm going to take the Elenco off and
install it on either my gas 860 or 861D.
I'm leaning towards my gas 860 because I
also have an 1801D with an Elenco front end.

Question for Kirk or Tony (or anyone else
that knows)...how hard is it to remove the
interior rear parts and reinstall on another
tractor?

I'm not sure but I think the drive sprocket is welded to the tranny- rearend coupler. Split would be at tranny, rearend.

Just curious, what was the stamped model and serial number (flat spot behind starter), and did it have a three point hitch and engine-mounted hydraulic pump? Also a picture would be of interest.

No pump on motor. Trans is stamped 850. Haven't tried to read serial number. Rear has a flat plate under seat, no three point, but it has a pto which runs backhoe pump.

I'll try to add pictures later.

Interesting. I shall not speculate. Maybe Tony Jacobs will make a special appearance on the board - he would have valuable information in this case.

To swap the Elenco internal parts, a split is required between the trans and rear. Swap the coupler with the sprocket between the trans and rear end to your 860. You will also have to relocate the pto engage lever on your 860. Since you are moving the Elenco from one tractor to another, note the hole location of the relocated pto lever and duplicate on your 860. There is also the internal bracing for the chain case to swap over to your 860.

Hopefully the pictures loaded. The Elenco driveshaft, cover plate, and gear box (and chain) are in my truck. They were removed to make it easier for the 80 year old owner to get on the tractor. The only piece I'm missing is the support bracket for the gear box. Also can't with a new metal seat pan, new seat cover, alternator conversion kit still in box, and new seat for backhoe.

The previous owner removed the driveshaft and gearbox to make it easier to on and off tractor but did not put running board back on? Quite a gap between loader frame and transmission to fall through. Hopefully broken parts in the Elenco are not the real reason for removing the driveshaft.
