axle pivot bushing

Ok, Me and the search on here don't get along. I have tried searching many times.

I need to know the best way.............any way to install the pivot bushing into my axle, at home, without a press.

I don't want to have to buy another, because I screwed it up.

I also have the spindle upper & lower bushings coming. which I need to install. Along with thrust bearings & seals, and axle bearings and seals. Like I said, every time I remove something, I have to replace it, or fix it!

Thanks, Pat

I think i drove mine in with a 3/4 drive socket. Whenever you are driving something in or out, you dont want ANY bounce, it has to be solid for your blows to do their work. You might press it in with a big bolt and washers. Mine wasnt that difficult to install, lube maybe one half of it and leave some dry until it gets started in. Sometimes lube all the way around makes them want to spin.

You can buy a set of bushing drivers at HF but check to see if any is large enough for the axle bushing.

Alternatively, put the bushing in the freezer and WARM the axle. Should go right in.

Thanks for the idea's. I used a piece 1/2" threaded rod, and some large washers, and it went right in.

Thanks, Pat
