New (to me) Ford 3910

From all available references that would be correct. To confirm, what is the Unit Number? It should start with a 7 if it was made in 1987.

Thanks! Where would I find that number?

I do have a pic of another number on three separate lines it reads like this:

A D B
60B03
7K4A

(quoted from post at 22:39:18 11/07/18)
7K4A
Built Oct 4 1987 on midnight shift
Could be considered a 88 model.

Thanks for the fast reply! I grew up using a Ford 3000 and MF135 (as a kid); just doing what I'm told. Now I have finally purchased my own, so I'm about to start learning a lot more.

Anything I should look for with these particular models as it relates to any issues?

Found some more numbers on the sticker under the hood.

Tractor Number: BB33729

Model: CA414C or CA410 (hard to tell)
7KO5B

Engine: 983328 7KO4

Transmission 7KO1B

BB33729 is a 88 model serial number
CA414C model code
CA4 = 3910 all purpose
1 = diesel engine
4 = 540 ind pto
C = 8x2 manual trans
7K05B build date
7 = 1987
K = Oct
05 = day of the month
b = day shift
Tractor was built Oct 5, 1987 on day shift

Good tractor, very dependable.
IMO Ford got it right with the 3910 series, the short turning sweep back axle makes them very maneuverable in tight places but isn't as desirable for loader apps.
This was the first of the 3000 series to have the 4000 series planetary rear axle and wet brakes along with ind pto.

Thanks for all the information!

Where did you find that C98xxxxx serial number that you first posted? If that was stamped into the flat spot near the starter and the sticker under the hood had Tractor Number: BB33729 then the transmission was replaced at some point.

This site doesn't let you post photos until you've got more than 10 or so posts. I'll post your photos below for you.

The picture where you say you got the C98xxxx number is the location of the engine serial number, not the tractor serial number, so my statement about the transmission possibly being replaced at some point is invalid. The engine serial numbers are not documented as far as ranges for particular years so it doesn't tell you much other than the fact that it starts with a C means that the engine was built for a 3xxx series tractor.

The tractor number from the sticker under the hood is the tractor serial number. According to the internet, BB33729 should be a 1988 serial number, but the Unit Number, which is the date code for when the tractor left the assembly line, 7K05B, says that it was made on October 5 1987 during the day shift. Since both of those numbers are on the same sticker, and the other date codes for the assembly of the components (engine, transmission, etc.) are shortly before the Unit Number date, you should believe the Unit number and go with it being an October 5 1987 tractor in terms of any date breaks for differences in parts.
